Report from the March Rehearsal Camp

I think it’s fitting for the first comment to be: WOW, WOW AND WOW! After having to cancel the February camp due to snow, the members and staff of the Memphis Sound organization bounced back and responded with what some would call the best camp in seasons!

Munford High School in Munford, TN was the host site of this camp and we are very grateful for their hospitality. The facility was amazing! Thanks Munford High and Barry Trobaugh, Director of Bands.

To the administration and support staff…THANK YOU! I cannot do what I do without you. You guys are truly the heart and soul of this organization and I thank you for embracing me as the new director, being great supporters of the organization, and also being great people. I think I speak for the corps when I say that we wouldn’t trade you guys for the world.

Camp began Friday night with a short meeting and introductions of the new percussion staff lead by new percussion caption head, Stephen Frittelli. Afterwards we began tackling the camp goals, which were to leave the camp on Sunday with 7 min. of music under our fingers………..GOAL MET! The Hornline plowed their way through all the show music and by the time we left the camp, were performing at a high level.

The percussion staff did an incredible job with the members this weekend. Each section of the percussion had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with their new staff instructors. The members had nothing but positive things to say about both the style of teaching and the energy that this crew brought in. Look for the percussion section at Memphis Sound to be strong this season.

The members worked very hard on Saturday, rehearing from 8am until midnight to make sure that our goals were met!

Sunday’s show and tell performance had the energy of being at a live DCI event. The members really wanted to display a high standard of excellence/performance to the parents and friends that were in attendance…and BOY DID THEY!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that I can’t wait until the next camp.

Spots are available in all sections for the 2007 season and the next camp is scheduled for March 30-April 1 (Brass and Percussion only). If you are looking for a place to grow, learn, and have an incredible life-altering experience…then Memphis Sound may be what you are looking for. Contact a caption-head for more information.

See you in four weeks!
